How To Setup Vista Mail To Check Your Email
Windows Vista Mail is the default email software that comes with Windows Vista. The following instructions describe how to create and set up your email account using the Vista Mail.
Make sure you have created your email address in the Hosting Manager or Plesk for Windows Hosting, before setting it up in Vista Mail.

Setting Up Vista Mail
These are the steps you need to follow to set up Vista Mail to check your email:
- From the Start menu, select Email. Windows Mail is already installed on Windows Vista.
- Then navigate to Tools > Accounts.
- Click Add.
- Select E-mail Accounts and then click Next.
- In Display Name enter the identifying name for your email address. In the example this is Bob Smith, but it can be a functional name as well such as Your Business Sales.
- In E-mail address enter your e-mail address and then click Next (in the example we are setting up Vista to manage the imaginary email address [email protected]).
- In the following window complete the required fields, and click Next.
Below is a description of the fields:
Incoming mail server (POP3) Your incoming server is mail.mydomain.com, where mydomain.com is the name of your domain. Keep POP3 selected as default. Outgoing mail server (SMTP) Enter your full email address, such as: [email protected] Outgoing server requires authentication Should be unchecked (at the default value)
- Complete the Internet Mail Logon window and then click Next.
Below is a description of the fields:
E-mail Address Enter your e-mail address (in the example we are creating an email account for an imaginary email: [email protected]). Password The password is case sensitive. Decide if you want to check the "Remember password" field to make logging in easier in the future.
- At this stage you have completed your email setup. Please note that you must check (select) the option Do not download my e-mail and folders at this time.
To save settings and download your e-mail folder list and messages, click Finish.
Congratulations! You have added your email account to Vista Mail. You should now be able to use it to manage your email account.
